The Collaborative

Sequoia Foundation, Brightline Defense, and Rise South City are working in partnership with government collaborators, including staff of the air district, data analysis stakeholders, and technology partners, to establish a sustained, regional, and community-oriented air quality collaborative (newly branded as the Air Quality Collaborative Bay Area, AQCBA). Over the two-year proposed project period AQCBA will work with local communities of San Francisco, South San Francisco, and Oakland in the following engagement activities:

  1. Identify priority areas for air quality monitoring, and establish a publicly available data network of of 100+ air quality sensors

  2. Conduct four tailored needs assessment workshops to determine the community’s learning objectives related to air quality monitoring

  3. Conduct four tailored air quality capacity-building trainings that achieve the community's identified learning objectives

  4. Promote best practices in community air monitoring and associated workshops and trainings to ensure that AQCBA is sustainable and expands to other community-led air monitoring activities.
